THERMAL INSULATION
COATINGS

We have successfully developed high temperature resistant coatings, MPC 500 & HIMAT-1200 to provide effective thermal insulation for operating temperatures up to 700°C for short durations.

HIMAT-1200 is a ceramic based coating for effective fire protection in most demanding application areas of military and aircraft industry. It is a water / organic based, non-toxic intumescent coating which is used to coat a wide variety of materials to protect them from a high intensity fire where the temperature exceeds 1000°C. This is being successfully used for protecting the exhaust domes of booster rocket used for launching PTA Lakshya developed by ADE.

We have also developed a coating TIC 200, for protecting Firewalls made of titanium sheets used on Advanced Light Helicopter. TIC 200 can be used as thermal insulation coating on all types of metals and composites for continuous operating temperatures up to 120°C.

THERMAL INSULATION BLANKET (TIB)

TIB is an effective product developed by MATCON for insulating the ECS ducts to improve the effectiveness of air condition-ing by minimizing the heat transfer between ducts and surroundings.

It is a multilayer product consisting of special heat reflective polymer films seperated by thermal spacers of cotton net. Polymide film is used as outer cover

for protection. It is light in weight, easy to handle and has enhanced durability.

By virtue of this design feature very thin thermal insulation blankets provide as much thermal gradient as provided by conventional foam and glass wool based insulation materials of much higher (about 3 times) thickness. Approvals: DGCA and CRI for use on aircraft ducts.
THERMAL INSULATION SHIELD (TIS)

TIS is an advanced Thermal Protection System for temperature sensitive components in aerospace, military and engineering equipments. It is a light weight material consisting of advanced thermal insulator mat covered with high temperature resistant metal sheets. TIS can be fabricated to any shape to suit the contours of the components.

Combination of various thermal insulation mat materials and the outer metal provide effective shiedding against operating temperatures up to 1200°C. It is a light weight solution with average thermal shielding effect up to 92%. In addition, TIS also provides acoustic insulation up to 16 dB.
SOLAR HEAT REFLECTIVE COATING
Interiors of helicopters and military vehicles/ shelters, while on ground or operating under sun get heated beyond acceptable limits due to absorption of solar heat. We offer an effective coating solution which reflects 70 – 85 % of solar heat radiation, thus minimizing heat absorption. It has an outstanding resistance to chemical attack and offers high level of corrosion protection in saline environment.

The above is achieved by a specially formulated low V O C (less than 420 gms) air drying, pigmented polyurethane finishing scheme which provides a flexible and chemically resistant coating for all light alloys and composites used in aircraft and military equipment construction, coupled with exceptional colour and gloss retention. Normally used in conjunction with our low VOC chromate primer BSX 33 (for metals) or chromate free primer DEF 80-216 ( for composites) and if necessary BSX 32 etch primer on metals.

The heat reflection measured by RRE IR reflectance meter for dark sea grey colour is 70% minimum and 85 % for white colour.

Applications: Helicopters, radar enclosures and military vehicles.
